A browser viewer for Gaussian Splatting

A Gaussian Splat represents a scene as many overlapping, oriented splats. Compatible PLY and .splat files store position, scale, rotation, opacity and color data. View.gs renders that data as an interactive 3D scene directly in a WebGL-capable browser.

Fly, orbit and set the opening view

Use Fly mode to move through a space or Orbit mode to circle the scene. Touch controls work on phones and tablets. Before publishing a link, choose the camera position that every recipient will see when the scene opens.

Check file compatibility before sharing

View.gs accepts compatible binary little-endian Gaussian Splat PLY files and standard 32-byte-record .splat files. Ordinary point-cloud PLY and mesh PLY files lack the Gaussian properties required by the viewer.

What is View.gs?

View.gs is a web application for viewing and sharing existing 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) scenes. Its official website is https://view.gs/. The name View.gs identifies the product and its domain; it does not refer to a .gs file format.

Can I embed a scene on my website?

Every published scene can be embedded on HTTPS websites, including scenes uploaded for free. Copy the HTML embed code from the Share panel. Embeds display the saved opening camera and let visitors explore without signing in. A free embed lasts for the same 48-hour period as its file. After expiry, it displays: This scene has expired. Contact the file owner to renew access.

Which files can I upload?

Gaussian Splat .PLY and .splat files up to 500 MB are supported. PLY files must use a compatible binary little-endian Gaussian layout; .splat files must use the standard 32-byte record layout. Ordinary point cloud and mesh PLY files are not supported.

Is View.gs a free Gaussian Splat viewer?

Yes. You can upload a compatible PLY or .splat file, explore it online and create a viewer link at no cost. Free links remain available for 48 hours.

Does the recipient need an account?

No. Anyone with the link can explore your Gaussian Splat in a compatible browser. There is no login or installation step.

What happens after 48 hours?

The link expires and stops opening the scene. The source file is removed by scheduled cleanup. Keep your original PLY or .splat file if you want to upload it again later.

Who can see my scene?

Anyone with your link can view and forward it. Links are random, are not listed publicly, and are not indexed by search engines. Password protection is not available yet.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Use the file picker to upload and touch gestures to navigate. Large scenes may exceed the memory or graphics capabilities of some devices.
